Bethlehem, PA

Breakdancer

Where are you from & how did you get into dance?

I was born in San Jose California, parents moved around a bit then relocated to Bethlehem Pennsylvania. I started dancing when I was 16 years of age. I stumbled on videos of breakers online and kept thinking about it and needed to see this and then I told myself that I needed to be a part of this community. Since then I have been breakdancing (B Boy) for 13 years.

As a dancer what are some of your challenges and how do you overcome them ?

I’m not a very open person so expressing my dancing in front of people is challenging. However, seeing the beauty of breakin which becomes a battle inside and outside of it helps me to overcome this challenge. It gets easier the more I battle in this culture..

What helps you to keep going and what inspires you to help others to grow?

What keeps me going is to share my love for dance with others which motivates me to keep going. Helping others to grow allows me to share my experiences with others so that they can learn about a time when I had a lack of resources and now being able to share those resources that I have can help build up dancers and grow.
